Red White Black Electrical Wires Ceiling Fan
I cannot get both the light and fan to work at the same time.
Red white black electrical wires ceiling fan. The fan has a light attached. Feed the black white red and copper. The red color on fans is for powering the lights.
The white wires on the fan go to the bundle of white wires. The wires coming out the ceiling are black white and ground. In other words it is the primary connection that provides current from the switch to the fan s electrical load or motor.
You may come across a red wire when wiring a ceiling fan with 4 wires. Moreover sometimes this wire can come directly from the main circuit breaker in order to always be on. Turn the power back on and test the fan.
It is a hot wire that comes from the ceiling and hooked up to a wall switch. Make a pigtail of the ground wire using two 6 inch lengths of bare wire and connect one ground wire to the fan switch and one to the light switch. Connect the red wire in the ceiling to the black wire in the light kit and the black wire in the ceiling to the black wire in the fan.
Tuck the wires back into the box. The different colors of electrical wires indicate the function of the wire with black and red indicating the wires carry electric current white usually indicating neutral charge and green indicating the wire is grounded. I am installing a ceiling fan that has white black red and ground wires.
Connect the red wire from the fan to the other terminal on the fan switch and the black wire to the light switch. Figuring out the intent of whoever originally wired the room can be a little bit difficult but it s doable. The wall switch is located near the bedroom door and controlled the light fixture i replaced with the fan.
