Pick the right crown molding size. For standard 8 foot high ceilings the crown cornice height should be 2 to 6 inches. A room with high ceilings can carry a larger crown while a large crown with look overpowering in a room with standard 8 foot ceilings.
Too small and it will seem insignificant and look out of place too large and it will make the room itself seem small and just be overpowering.
